In a separate but equally concerning incident, the FDA recently corrected the number of injuries and deaths associated with Philips’ recall of bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machines. Philips has updated the instructions for use, advising patients and caregivers to switch to alternative devices if an alarm occurs and to contact their equipment supplier immediately.
